Ministering to High School Athletes Community Outreach Ministries (COM) has been blessed with the opportunity to mentor local high school athletes on a weekly basis. “Outside the Lines” transforms lessons learned on the playing field into lessons for everyday living, helping lay healthy foundations for these athlete's futures. During football season, following the Thursday walk-through practice, the players are turned over to Corky French for “Outside the Lines”. Corky brings in community leaders, former and current pro athletes, local ministers and others who are uniquely gifted to minister to these athletes. We focus on:
"Outside the Lines" helps to create an environment where athletes experience daily victories. In this setting, through various means, they are encouraged to establish an identity separate and apart from athletics, an identity based on their relationship with God. Outside the Lines lets these young athletes know that they are loved and are important to us for more than just their athletic ability. It challenges them to grow academically, socially, and spiritually, as well as athletically. |
